But I think this is really important argument to make against transparent chains and even optional transparent chains like Zcash.

It implies that privacy-by-default chains are the actual financial revolution and tax revolution against the state:

Not a fan tbh. The decentralised relay-server model is cool but ultimately it's terrible for privacy. It just doesn't have the network effect.

I think a small niche forum for like minded people has much more potential to grow.

Think 4Chan, early days of bitcoin reddit, and early bodybuilding forums.

But as always as soon as community becomes too large and normies start to join en mass, all the High Signal posts become diluted and the community begins to slowly die.

The TLDR: Online communities often begin with “Geeks” — highly committed people who create the culture, knowledge, and norms that make the community valuable. As the community becomes popular, “MOPs” (Members Of the Public) flood in, bringing different motivations and often diluting the original culture and signal. Eventually, “Sociopaths” may recognize the community's value and exploit it for status, money, or power. The original members become increasingly alienated because the thing they built no longer feels like it belongs to them. In short: growth can destroy the very culture and incentives that made a niche community valuable in the first place.

I was unfortunately a Bitcoin maxi when I first entered the bitcoin space. I was really into the history of money and macroeconomics. So naturally bitcoin instantly theoretically made sense to me as the naturally evolution of money. However, it took me about a year or two to actually start diving into the technicals/development side of bitcoin to see that bitcoin couldn't practically be used as the money tool I idealised when I first heard about it. I then started promoting scaling solutions and trying to raise awareness for various BIPs like a moron thinking I could fix bitcoin.

After a year of doing that, I remember @untraceable on X sending me a funny meme about how bitcoin only gets useless BIPs like taproot approved, yet it doesn't add any useful BIPs.

I basically admitted to myself that bitcoin was lost cause and will never improve in 2023. The community grew too large and the devs were too chicken to campaign for around any useful bips to scale bitcoin or add privacy.

It takes a really honest and grounded person to admit what they thought they understood to be true was completely false.

Eventually, I started studying Monero more and more. Became convinced very quickly that I had been fighting the wring fight. Monero was clearly the superior cryptocurrency in every technical way not just in privacy but with the smart tail emission.
