Stasher News is a place for stashers to connect and share interesting ideas, news, content, memes.

Right now, much of the conversation on Stasher News revolves around Monero and related topics, but there are also dozens of new topics covered on different turfs.

This guide is designed to share best practices for posting content so you can get the most out of your experience here.

You can share interesting links, original posts, polls, bounties or job listings. You can also add comments to any type of post to have in-depth discussions with other stashers.

Below are a few best practices worth considering when sharing content.

Where possible, share links from original sources. Original sources tend to get more attention (and stash more XMR) than secondary tweets, articles, and other content derived from an original source.

Take a moment to make sure your title is accurate, complete, and succinct. Precise and thoughtful titles help more people see your post, and help you stash more XMR.

If someone has already shared your link, you'll see a "dupe" warning on the post screen. Consider tipping that link instead of posting a duplicate link. Duplicate links tend to be ignored, and by tipping the first person to post your link, you can stash XMR as part of our weekly rewards.

DiscussionsDiscussions

Just like link post titles, your discussion title should be succinct and should accurately describe the topic you're writing about. Consider spending a few moments improving your post title, as this can determine whether or not other stashers decide to read (or tip) your content.

If you are writing a post that contains multiple paragraphs, consider formatting your post. Adding subheadings to your discussion post makes it easy for readers to keep up with your writing. Stasher News will automatically generate a searchable Table of Contents when multiple subheadings are included in a discussion post.

PollsPolls

Just like the other content formats listed above, your poll should have a succinct title that accurately describes the question you want other stashers to answer. In addition, each of your poll options should be correctly labelled and should entirely encompass the range of possible answers.

For example, if your poll is a simple yes or no question, two poll options will suffice. However, if your poll is asking for people to select a numerical range, be sure to include poll options that encompass all possible answers for the most accurate poll outcome possible.

BountiesBounties

To get maximum participation from other stashers, bounty posts should clearly articulate the problem you're trying to solve or the task you're looking for someone to complete in the post title.

The body of the bounty post is a great place to elaborate on smaller details of your question or problem, to give readers additional context on what problem you're trying to solve.

Bounties give stashers the flexibility of deciding how much the completion of a task is worth. When you create a bounty, set an amount of at least 0.01 XMR that accurately reflects the work required to come up with a solution and the urgency with which you'd like a sufficient answer. All else being equal, larger bounties will typically get answered before smaller ones.

To fund a bounty, send the amount on-chain to the monero: URI shown on the post — an integrated address on the platform's dedicated bounty escrow wallet, with a payment ID that ties the payment to your bounty. The platform fee (the greater of 0.01 XMR or 1% of the bounty, capped at 20% of the bounty) is paid in the same funding payment, so include it in what you send. Until the funding payment is confirmed, your bounty is only visible to you; once confirmed, it appears in the feeds for other stashers to work on.

Once a bounty is funded, you can award it to the stasher who wrote the comment that solved your problem. The winner receives the bounty on-chain from escrow to their registered wallet (they must have a wallet attached), and the fee goes to the platform.

Bounties expire 30 days after they are funded. If no answer fits within that window, you can either reclaim the funds back to your wallet (the fee is still paid) or roll the funds over to the rewards pool.

When responding to other stashers, consider using full sentences and appropriate grammar. The added context can help readers follow your train of thought and engage in better back-and-forth dialogue.

Monero is the tool that the Stasher News community uses to signal which content is (or is not) valued.

If you regularly stash XMR for your content, consider it a signal that other stashers enjoy what you're sharing. If your content is often ignored, consider it a signal that stashers aren't finding it valuable.

What to absolutely never share on Stasher:

high-risk visuals that, in Stasher News' sole determination, harm the platform (irrespective of legality in the user’s jurisdiction), including without limitation gore (open wounds, deceased human or animal bodies), repulsive content (vomit, defecation, diseases such as nail fungus), terrorist symbols, and any content advocating terrorism/murder (e.g. “Kill all …”); such content in posts or accounts shall result in immediate removal and may result in account ban.

Generally speaking, referral links, repetitive, unoriginal, or poor quality content tend to be ignored by the Stasher News community.

Because posting and commenting are gated by fees. Anyone who is regularly posting content that the community ignores has a financial and social incentive to either share more relevant content or avoid posting at all.
