UPDATE: I can confirm that the Ledger supply chain is compromised in Europe as well. @Ledger should initiate an immediate product recall to protect users. I just purchased a second device from a different Mediamarkt location today, recorded the unboxing process, and discovered…

all these devices are a black box. i do not understand them. so i do not trust them.

That is the correct default. If you cannot open it or read the code it is someone else's box.

Ledger has had a lot of security issues through the years, from hardware exploits to leaking their customer data. No company is perfect, but I switched over to Trezor years ago and don't regret my decision.

I went up and down for a long time on getting a Ledger.

I eventually decided I didn't need one. Air Gapped works mostly for when I need that extra security.

I just leave the seed phrases in the safe and no touchy I know what's there.

Pen and Paper ledger is what I use!

reply

That is the real lesson. A Ledger still wants a firmware update and an app install after the seed is in it. It was never fully airgapped. Paper in a safe has fewer moving parts, and none of them have a supply chain.

DIY SeedSigner, or pre-assembled from a trusted third-party in the communities. XMRSigner when? Soon^(tm). Welcome to crapto, I mean, welcome to the wild west.

reply

Open hardware is the only version of this where someone might have caught the implant. XMRSigner still "soon" is the joke that is not funny anymore.

reply

Define "open hardware" and do elaborate on what the joke is, because I do not see it, yet, @samourai.

Crazy times. Everything is getting compromised left and right. Trust in hardware wallets going down the shitter. Database leaks, undiscovered code vulnerabilities, supply chain attacks. insanity.

Crypto, security, math. everything is getting revolutionized all at once, and we've only just begun. Its going to be a bumpy ride.

Its going to be a bumpy ride.

Tell me when it wasn’t, untraceable: can't find any non-bumpy times in the history books, maybe before before wheat enslaved humanity original ↗ (aka agricultural revolution) lol :)))
