This is my conversion story. A journey of escape from the BTC ecosystem — increasingly unrecognizable every day — which I managed to leave thanks to the involuntary work of the subject mentioned above. Let me explain.

Matthew Kratter runs “Bitcoin University” on YouTube. He regularly flexes his Stanford and Berkeley credentials and his connection to Peter Thiel — as some sort of muscle flex to grant himself elite status. That tells you everything about his framework: authority over reason. A textbook Number Go Up-closet-case.

His YouTube video from October 31, 2026, titled 'Adding Use Cases Is Bad For Bitcoin NGU', isn't just a masterpiece of irony; it's definitive proof that the market already knows the truth about Monero.

For context: I was a Bitcoiner who consumed his content because I knew something was wrong with BTC and I needed to keep an eye on it. The absurd fees. The unacceptable congestion. The impossibility of using “sound money” as actual money. The NFT scams disguised as art that denaturalize the financial ethos of the protocol.

But 2025 was the breaking point. I watched Kratter literally beg Bitcoin Core devs not to activate the v30 update (the video is still online). And as Nick Szabo was sounding every alarm, Gloria Zhao and her squad dismantled BTC’s core fundamentals — all while publicly insulting the “plebs” who dared to push back.

That was it for me.

I wasn’t going to drown with them. While Kratter kept preaching in his ‘Bitcoin University’, I was already researching my first swaps on Cake Wallet. Then the rot on BTC was so evident that I made a decision: die with my boots on. If my capital was going to zero, it would be with a protocol that actually respects its economic fundamentals.

By September I was ready.

October 2025 → staggered swaps begin. 70% XMR, 20% BTC held back.
November 2025 → 100% of my Bitcoin swapped to Monero.

I have no more BTC. My only regret is not doing it sooner!

Let me be precise about what happened next — because this is where the NGU crowd will try to misread me.

I didn’t win because I speculated correctly. The market validated the fundamentals. A protocol that respects monetary principles, enables real-world spending, and preserves anonymity is supposed to outperform one that abandoned all three.

The gains are the market’s verdict, not a coincidence.

He handed his own audience the evidence. Look at the numbers: XMR +78%. Gold +16%. BTC -20%.

The mainstream media, the regulators, and the entire crypto establishment tried to kill Monero. They delisted it. They banned it.

And yet, the most persecuted coin in existence just humiliated both the boomer rock and the institutional spamcoin. The so-called "digital gold" lost to actual gold.

It is clear to me now: we don't need Wall Street. We don't need ETFs. We just need a protocol that actually works.

And instead of acknowledging what his own chart reveals, he pivoted to promoting a scam token called XBT to his audience. In his own words, he admits it: “very high risk, very high reward” — expecting purchasing power to “easily 100x or 1,000x.”

Professor, that’s not protecting monetary fundamentals: That’s Number Go Up mentality with a new ticker. Draw your own conclusions about who he’s actually serving.

I have identified that NGU mentality only leads systems toward greed and demise, which is exactly the case with BTC. It turns a monetary protocol into a speculative vehicle and then wonders why nobody uses it to buy anything.

To me, BTC is now just a CBDC in beta. I'm beginning to believe the market is starting to notice.

I have a deeply ingrained rule: never buy near an ATH... Today I broke it.

Today I bought Monero — because the defeat of NGU against the supremacy of intact fundamentals deserves a celebratory gesture. You set out to defend Bitcoin and ended up documenting its dismantlement in real time — while inadvertently making the case for everything Monero stands for.

This purchase, I sincerely mean it, is a toast to your legacy, Professor Kratter.

THIRTY years from now, Americans, Japanese,

Europeans, and people in many other rich countries, and

some relatively poor ones will probably be paying for

their shopping with the same currency. Prices will be

quoted not in dollars, yen or D-marks but in, let's say, the

phoenix. Te phoenix will be favoured by companies and

shoppers because it will be more convenient than today's

national currencies, which by then will seem a quaint

cause of much disruption to economic life in the last

twentieth century.

At the beginning of 1988 this appears an

outlandish prediction. Proposals for eventual monetary union proliferated fve and ten

years ago, but they hardly envisaged the setbacks of 1987. Te governments of the big

economies tried to move an inch or two towards a more managed system of exchange

rates - a logical preliminary, it might seem, to radical monetary reform. For lack of cooperation in their underlying economic policies they bungled it horribly, and provoked

the rise in interest rates that brought on the stock market crash of October. Tese

events have chastened exchange-rate reformers. Te market crash taught them that the

pretence of policy co-operation can be worse than nothing, and that until real cooperation is feasible (i.e., until governments surrender some economic sovereignty)

further atempts to peg currencies will founder.

But in spite of all the trouble governments have in reaching and (harder still)

sticking to international agreements about macroeconomic policy, the conviction is

growing that exchange rates cannot be lef to themselves. Remember that the Louvre....

This guy is a complete moron. I’ve been disgusted by him for years because he’s been using his computer in the same ridiculous and unproductive way, making terrible, low-quality videos, and breathing loudly through his mouth all the time. What’s more, the number of Bitchcoin maxitards who regard him as a guide has been destroying my hope for humanity. The overconfident ignorance and conformism of this and many other Bitcoin YouTubers and podcasters are holding humanity back by 100 years because of their deceitful peddling of false hope.

his anti-monero videos were very telling. They could only manage to convince/influence those whose egos would be destroyed by the questioning of their deeply held beliefs.

Every other rational viewer should be able to immediately determine the level of bias and potential to be misled in the way he presented his arguments. There are very few reasons for a "bitcoin educator" to spend this amount of time and effort to create multiple anti(anything) videos that are not related to Bitcoin, unless it were not a threat to those ingrown beliefs/biases.

That seems to be exactly the case if you ended up on Stasher News talking about Monero after watching his videos.
