With World of Warcraft Forever launching yesterday I decided to watch the cinematic trailer.
As I watched it with my wife I had to pause the video and show her the original 2004 World of Warcraft cinematic. The Forever trailer was clearly refencing the original.

The first thing I noticed was the voice over. The voice actor, Debi Mae West original rendition was ominous, brooding and serious (this is a game about war after all).
The 2026 version is whimsical, inspiring and chirpy.
The other thing we noticed was that they defanged the fricken bear ... literally!
Above is a screenshot with the similar frame. The original shows a savage beast with razor fangs that will maul anyone that gets in it's way, the bottom is a cuddly pet to befriend with shaved fangs that would not threaten anyone.
Notice the difference in color grading, the original is less saturated the 2026 version is Disneyfied with an exaggerated pallette.

As someone who markets games for a living, I have noticed a trend in modern releases to focus less on masculine sensibilities and more on feminine.
So many games now tap into the cute, cosy and whimsical aesthetic. There is nothing wrong with this in and of itself, and there is a market for it. However it is completely overrepresented.
I've thought about this and I can only conclude it is a global attempt to change culture via social engineering. Men and what they want have not changed, the culture has.

This means woman are artificially boosted to the best paid positions in globalist joint-stock corporations. Markets have now adjusted to woman being the main purchaser (and breadwinner) and are catering to their higher average income and sensibilities. This is great news for advertisers as woman are generally more easily emotionally pliable.
If your goal is to control society through technology, do you want masculine, uncompromising and independent thinking men who are self sufficient? or would you want effeminate, conforming, collectivist men who are dependent on state handouts?

Good catch on the bear and the grading, that's a real marketing observation. One problem with the frame though, the 2004 cinematic you're holding up as the darker original, Seasons of War, has a female narrator, Debi Mae West, credited on WoW since the early days. Both ends of your comparison are a woman reading a script, so gender isn't the variable, tone is, and I'd blame the audience. 2004 was selling a threat to a niche of hardcore PC owners, 2026 is selling a comfort memory to forty year olds. Marketing hedging risk, not a planner. The pliability stuff I'd drop, it's the only line that makes a fair reader stop reading

Audiance might make sense if this was only happening in WoW but it is every AAA studio, movies, advertisments etc. Virtually all media and entertainment all doing this at the same time. BioWare and multiple Disney flops is evidence that this is not market driven.

Yes they do. Critical Race Theory is pretty much "identify the non-white, everything they do is correct". All their rhetoric about racism, white supremacy, colonialism, etc. is all just thinly veiled anti-white hatred. They do this for men and women too.
