Good clarification. I was aware, but my thinking is that those voting (paying tips) are unlikely to break even from the intermittent rewards they may receive from the general fund. As such it isn't a realistic income. 

The success of this site centres around voting mechanics and at present there isn't really any incentive to up vote (paid to creator) vs reply (paid to stasher general fund).

Small add on #3 (weekly rewards): FAQ spells out that the pool goes to people who 

 the posts and comments that made it to the top that week — not only the authors. So as a reader, tipping (not just scrolling) is literally how you buy into the Monday payout if your picks were good. Took me a minute to notice that wasn't just a writer reward.
