thanks for asking/sharing that (upvoted!).
yeah, food is one of those topics that never dies, mostly because the food industrial complex quietly ruined a lot of lives over the last few generations.
The good news, IMO: that very short "ignorant glutton" era in human history (between inventing fertilizers and actually learning how to live with food abundance instead of the natural deficit every mammal evolved for) is pretty much over. Bodyfat used to be the only "savings account" an animal had for bad times: now people don't need to store that much… they just haven’t updated the software yet :))

I just eat fresh local low-carb stuff: some protein (seafood / poultry / meat / tofu etc.) + a huge fresh salad or Asian style steamed veggies (never more than I need and often it's one normal meal + "superfood" coffee ritual with greek yogurt and local berries for "breakfast"). Sometimes I skip days, e.g. I never eat before or during flights (especially long ones): traveling fasted works better for me, and it helps with jetlag too lol (digital gypsy/nomad life lessons).

Also when I travel I keep collecting new good food things, then I check if there’s any science-backed evidence, and then I include them into my diet: e.g. natto / nattokinase and the vitamin K2 "wrong form" problem. Looked at the evidence, and since then I either eat natto or take the "right" K2 when natto isn’t around. Same loop for everything else :)

BONUS: one of my morning (or rather not-so-morning, after a run) "superfood" coffee rituals I once described to a friend:

Right now I’m finishing my black freshly-ground light roast coffee and about to head out for my daily 10k run. I usually read audiobooks, but today I’m going without headphones: I just want to let my mind wander freely today. When I get back (it’ll be humid and hot outside!), so I’ll be a "lovely" mess of sunscreen, sweat, and dust. Classic runner’s high: euphoric and absolutely disgusting at the same time lol :)))
Then (before going to the shower) I’ll make my little superfood ritual: 1 full tbsp organic flax meal + 1 tbsp organic cacao powder (not cocoa!) from a manufacturer I researched that doesn’t come from regions known for cadmium and heavy metal contamination. Then a pinch of sea salt, stevia, a bit of protein powder or even wheat protein (aka horrible "gluten" - yes, I’m proudly pro-gluten, I love the stuff and I’m not intolerant, and glutem is still protein even if it's not perfect/incomplete), (cinnamon or vanilla or nutmeg or some experimental stuff - optional), fresh milk - mix it into quick dough - then a tiny bit of baking soda on top + drops of organic apple vinegar for the bubbles. Mix it all again pop it in a microwave-safe white bowl, and microwave for ~5 minutes while I shower (according to some ppl it will smell disgusting while cooking because of flaxmeal - but smell goes away after cooling and does not affect taste, and I personally do not find it disgusting at all). By the time I’m clean, it’s cooled just enough to slide out as my cozy little cocoa-flax "muffin" :) I’ll freshly grind 3 tbsp of light roast organic coffee and brew it in my Italian (18/10 inoxidable stainless steel, no plastic - also researched ofc) stovetop coffee maker. Then I’ll mix fresh or frozen organic strawberries or raspberries or other berries (will be strawberries today) with plain Greek yogurt, stevia, collagen peptides, and a scoop (~5g) of creatine monohydrate. I'll cut "muffin" into slices and put on a tiny white plate, take white bowl with strawberry yogurt and a tall white latte mug with a splash of fresh milk, and I take it all out to the balcony to finally have a breakfast (not morning, but it will be actual break of my ~ 18-hour fast lol). While I eat I’ll scroll through emails, feeds, Hacker News, papers, check up on different processes/agents, read the daily parade of insults, threats from unhappy scammers, and promo offers from still happy scammers in my DMs :))) If I’m in the mood I might post something for my Monero accounts. And mandatory something for my non-Monero accounts. And since it’s Sunday, I’ll head out later for a couple hours of local (beach) ultimate frisbee pickup :)

I’m actually going for my long-distance run now and will repeat this ritual soon :)
Happy weekend, Stasher foodies :)

It seems like you have been waiting for a while to share your thoughts on this topic 😅

Awesome, thanks for sharing.

waiting? lol not really: I just mashed together a few of my old DM replies into one post :))) that’s exactly why I said "food is one of those topics that never dies".
Glad you enjoyed it though, thanks for the kind words 🫶
