This exactly. Since I began denominating my life in Monero instead of in Fiat, I've seen prices of items in my life fall

As an example, I love eggnog this time of year, and over the past couple of years, I've been tracking the price of eggnog, and it has gone down and down and down

It costs something like half of what it used to, which means I can either buy double the eggnog that I could previously, or, I could pay half as much for the same amount of eggnog. There's only so much eggnog, even I can drink as an eggnog enjoyer. Therefore, I get to have my eggnog cheaper as time goes on.

You are absolutely correct that your cost of living denominating in xmr goes down even though in fiat terms it's going up. This is where the question of earning in xmr, spending xmr becomes more important in a world where fiat still reigns. The hidden hack that a lot of people are missing, because if they didn't they would be living differently
