Your diagnosis is the sharpest one in this thread: sellers risk nothing, so free listings pile up while buyers, who carry the risk, stay where trust already exists. Dropping the fee removed friction and created no demand, which is the same finding from the other side.

Marketing it is. One constraint I keep: listings get promoted on X or Nostr only when the seller ticks the box for it, so "show off interesting listings" runs on opt-in. Slower but consistent with the rest.
