This guide is for those who are new to Stasher and need help to set-up a Monero wallet.
Follow this simple step-by-step guide to start receiving and sending Monero (XMR).

Step 1 - Download A Trusted Monero Mobile WalletStep 1 - Download A Trusted Monero Mobile Wallet
Download Cake Wallet (Free & Open-Source): iOS / Android
Much like your mobile banking app, you simply need to download a crypto wallet to start sending and receiving cryptocurrency.
Step 2 - Create A WalletStep 2 - Create A Wallet
- Accept Terms
- Tap Create New Wallet
- Set A Security Pin
- Wallet currency: Monero (XMR)
Name your wallet, select Polyseed (16 words) and tap next
- Save/write down your Polyseed (See this video for more details)
Step 3 - SynchroniseStep 3 - Synchronise

To perform most interactions with your wallet, it must first be fully synchronised.
There will be a green dot at the top of your home screen when synchronisation is complete.
When this is first done it can take a lot of bandwidth or mobile data to complete so it's best done when connected to WiFi.
If your wallet is not fully synced, your wallet balance may not display correctly, and you won’t be able to send transactions.
You can still receive payments right away, however.
Keep the app open with the screen on to complete the syncing process.
Step 4 - How To Receive MoneroStep 4 - How To Receive Monero
To receive Monero tap the “receive” button at the bottom of the home page of the Cake Wallet app.
(1) Tap the QR code to make it full screen and easier to scan.
The person sending you Monero only needs to scan the code to automatically copy your wallet address.
(2) Alternatively you can copy the receive address (which looks like a long string of letters) and send it to the person you are requesting Monero from.
The one sending funds can then select an amount in their own wallet and confirm the transaction.
Step 5 - How To Send MoneroStep 5 - How To Send Monero
To send Monero tap the “send” button at the bottom of the home page of the Cake Wallet app.
(1) Copy and paste the Monero address of the recipient.
(2) Define the amount to be sent
(3) Select the speed/fee of the transaction
(4) Hit send and confirm the transaction
Done!Done!
That’s it! You now have set-up your wallet and know how to send and receive Monero!

First thing: consider I'm a newbie!
Why just mobile? How about desktop? And why are you suggesting/promoting just one wallet option? Do you work on the project? I'm new; I tried many, and the best I found is StackWallet. Did not find StashWallet lol
Shall I trust a wallet to generate my seed? Why? Are there any other options to control the entropy and ensure a secure wallet creation?

Is there a way to trust a provider (i.e. stasher.news) and authorize it to sign transactions going toward it? Does any wallet offer such functionality? It's pretty annoying to sign every single post/tip :(

This guide is designed to get new people into Monero and to start sending/receiving as quickly as possible (within 2minutes). Mobile is the easiest way to do this, it also is portable which means you can take your Monero with you in your pocket and spend/receive wherever you are.
Cake has many benefits, it's non-custodial and open-source. It also has some of the best resources in terms of video content to help people, which I linked in the above post.
I have not worked on the project and have no affiliation.
Ultimately no, if security is a top priority then a offline/cold storage wallet is the way to go, however this is far more complex to set-up and for receiving small tips is not worth the effort imo. Here is a Reddit post that outlines the process.
This would require a browser/web based wallet which is attached to your Stasher account. I could see them implementing this in the future, but right now it is not an option.
Be aware that polyseed can only represent wallet birthdays from 2021 to 2107. Anything before or after those will need to be done with legacy seeds.
