I was a nascent anarchist just barely beginning my journey when I came across this book. It helped expose me to a lot of questions I didn't know the answer to. Thank gods for that.

Oh, yes, thanks for posting it (upvoted!). I read The Anarchist's Handbook a couple of years ago. The essays Malice curated are really the best ones: information curation is a real skill in this age of informational deluge :)) Many I’d already read before that book, but some I discovered for the first time: e.g. I never knew Tolstoy was an anarchist (well, a certain kind of one lol), not just a famous novelist. Also, as I wrote in this post [ARTICLE][LAW] The Myth of the Rule of Law by John Hasnas, it was my first IRL encounter with someone actually playing with the idea of separating law from the state!

Creation and aggregation are both really valuable nowadays. There's so much info out there for nearly every topic, now it's just a question of processing it. Yeah, Tolstoy is a good example of how big the tent of anarchism actually is. I'm also an anarchist, but definitely not Christian or a fan of his peace, love, and mutual aid stuff. Have you read anything on pre-christian Iceland? (https://mises.org/mises-daily/medieval-iceland-and-absence-government) They effectively operated without a gov for many many years and they used a decentralized private legal system. Christianity fucked up the power balance though. Christianity introduced foreign influence and money, a taxation proxy (tithes), and universalism which disrupted the balance of power mechanics of their social ecosystem. Before that, their system wasn't really centralizing, after its introduction they seem to centralize more and eventually surrender control to a government. As far as I know my hypothesis is novel since many ancaps are Christian and have a bias against seeing such things and many secular anarchists are progressive and ancoms so they likely wouldn't even be open to researching it. (and if you listen to the official audiobook, there is one woman narrator who is just unbearable to listen to imo, just skip it: they have a different narrator for every essay)
