Impressive journey! It needs good will, determination, and discipline to achieve. I assume Monero is just a small part of the whole privacy setup? Or how much it influenced your way in life?

It is and it isn't.
It actually feeds lots of the other privacy areas of my life just because it is so central in my daily life.
I'm very aware that we live in systems. Locally, nationally and worldly.
So you need to adapt, live within those systems and maybe even exploit them to your advantage.
All while protecting what we can adamantly.
We are a tech heavy house for sure but I'm also very traditional.
I love mechanical and old vehicles. It can't be fucked with and just works or you can fix it yourself!
It's about living and learning.
There is no absolute in anything.
My focus is to teach the young men that are in my life how to be strong young men. With strong critical thinking skills and the ability to ask hard questions.
I got two of those. Never thought I would have that opportunity. Yesterday they started a paper route.
They both want to buy some Monero with there earnings because they both know fiat currency has no inherent value. They are 12 and 10.
That's a win for me and moneros future.
No whitepaper moment. I did start with BTC in 2014 so I had an introduction via that. By the time I was paying attention, Monero was just the coin that didn't publish the ledger. Then when COVID happened I went all in.
How I actually started was the computers. I already had Ryzen boxes in the house. RandomX is a CPU thing, so I pointed them at it instead of buying through a ramp and hoping the privacy survived the on-ramp. Mining came first. I'd mined BTC a bit but it was getting out of touch already with GPU and other tech. Moneros concepts spoke to me. A local node came because I got tired of some stranger's node being the one that tells me what's confirmed.
Why this one: the amounts are hidden, and a spend doesn't draw a line back to you by default. I don't want privacy as a setting I have to remember to turn on.
The rest of the daily stuff is boring on purpose.
I'm not trying to disappear. Private enough that the house isn't a tracking buffet. The monastery version of this hobby burns people out, and then they go back to the defaults.
