The first major comprehensive analysis of Rasa Shastra, the traditional Indian rejuvenating alchemy.
Describes the closely guarded, often oral traditional processes of purifying and transforming metals, minerals, gemstones, animal products, and certain plants into potent herbo-mineral-metallic medicines (bhasmas and related preparations).
These are used for healing, rejuvenation (rasayana), longevity, and the longstanding alchemical quest for immortality or perfected substances.
It also emphasizes purification (shodhana) practices that aim to enhance therapeutic potential.
Part 1 – What is Rasa Shastra?:
Origins, ancient technology, links to Ayurveda (health, longevity, ojas, sapta dhatu, tastes, panchakarma, etc.), metallurgy and healing, metals (loha), toxins (visha—including their dual role as poisons, antidotes, and medicines), and related concepts.
Part 2 – Workshop, Equipment, Method and Apparatus:
The rasashala (pharmacy/alchemical workshop), ideal siting (including Vastu and celestial considerations), tools (e.g., khalwa yantra/pestle-mortar), processes like shodhana (purification), marana (calcination), puta paka (controlled heating with cow-dung cakes or similar), bhavana, testing of preparations, mediums, vehicles of delivery (anupana), and issues of traditional vs. automated methods. Special attention is given to mercury.
Part 3 – Materials, Formula and Processing:
Detailed catalogue and examples across categories. Mercury (parada/Parada) receives extensive coverage (origins, impurities, extraction from cinnabar, purification, preparations like kajjali, rasa parpati, makaradhwaja, dangers, etc.). Other materials include minerals (e.g., sulphur, bitumen, arsenic compounds), metals (copper, tin, zinc, and others), gemstones (diamond, red agate, blue sapphire), animal products (deer horn, pearl, peacock feather), and toxic plants (visha such as datura, aconite, bhallataka). It covers formulas, therapeutic use, and some research/safety notes.
Part 4 – Celestial Connections:
Integration of Jyotish (Vedic astrology)—planetary influences, nakshatras, medical astrology, gemstones for propitiation, timing of preparation/administration based on lunar phases/planetary positions, and links to Rasa practices. Includes related anecdotes (e.g., visits to practitioners).

cool post. i'll check it out and the listing. Anna has Rasa for less descerning amongst you.
I'd say the biggest problem is that it's priced in Fiat on XMR Bazaar.
The biggest problem is that it's freely available on Anna's Archive and you can just use your XMR to support the largest truly open library in human history instead :)
