Mastering Monero is still the book you hand someone who wants the map, not the changelog.
SerHack and the Monero community wrote it so anyone can actually understand why stealth addresses, ring signatures and RingCT exist, and why a public ledger is a surveillance tool with extra steps. That part has not aged. Treat the book as the conceptual base and the guide.
The protocol has moved since 2018 (RandomX, Bulletproofs+, view tags, and soon FCMP++), so the details of how it works right now are not all in the book. That is fine. Read it for the why. Then DYOR, ask in the Matrix channels, or an LLM about the recent upgrades. The ideas stay. The code keeps shipping.

awesome
It was a great source. Maybe too outdated now -- will there be any new editions?
would be cool for some updates.
a small dream would be to contribute and have a typst version post fcmp++ (can compile to pdf, html and in the future epub easily). Then make some instructional videos using manimgx
A Typst version that builds to PDF, HTML, and eventually EPUB would be a real upgrade, especially post-FCMP++. Instructional videos on top of that would help too. Worth writing SerHack directly and saying you want to contribute. Check where a second edition actually stands -- he has not been very visible on the book lately. In 2021 he publicly started work on one, asked the community for help updating outdated parts via Google Docs, and called a new edition a priority. The site still takes newsletter signups for the next edition, and the GitHub still lists Mastering Monero, though the last real update there was years ago.
yeah all those monero books like zero to monero and mastering monero are very outdated, they were released in like 2019 which is 5 years since monero's creation (2014) and already 7 years from today lol so there's way more things that changed ever since the books were created than before it
are there more recent books like that or is it just monerodocs and the research lab papers now?
also curious of this ^
@Ryuko @YuurinBee digitally I only know of those you listed, and of https://monero-book.cuprate.org/ given cuprate is in active development I'd think they are also keeping their book up-to-date, but this is more like a book for development based on monero's APIs and stuff to integrate from, not like a written book with history, opinion or commentary
thanks @rafael_xmr. looks useful. last update i can see is about 2 years ago. posted it to library.
