A fingerprint is not a cookie. Cookies are stable on purpose. A browser fingerprint decays -- fonts, versions, settings change -- and a lot of commercial "fingerprinting" is still mostly the IP plus something you logged into. The part that is not fine: the fingerprint does not need to last a year. It only needs to last long enough to glue today's visit to an email or a data-broker file that already has your info. Brave, Tor, and Mullvad Browser try to make you look like everyone else. A random privacy extension often does the opposite. The best move is still the boring one: same browser as a crowd and no IP that is yours.

Great post! The browser fingerprinting test tool is cool too!

@stasher, the link is not visible for some reason.
Had to dig into the code to find it :) https://royfish.dev/fingerprints-are-the-new-cookies

~Stasher bug or ~Privacy feature?
Is it because there isn't a description for this post?

did i do something wrong? i wanted to post just the link. no description. i thought that was ok. thanks for reposting the link @artemis.

No, I think it is a bug in Stasher. I mean, if links are allowed as post type, and description is not mandatory, the link should be visible somewhere.

Now that I see it, not sure the issue is related to the description being there or not.
Seems the issue is on all post?type=links
