Some of the people behind the project are evidently weak sauce. Absolute nonsense to flip the 1 to 0.6 and hide behind "the block reward". I put the money where the mouth is and downvoted, upvoted you.
The show must go on. ^_^
1 XMR was my arbitrary suggestion in the poll thread, and since nobody offered other suggestions I went with 0.6 a conservative amount. There wasnt much time to get feedback on the amount with only two days until the next distribution.
We can always increase the amount up to 1 XMR per week for the following weeks if the community prefers it. No money is lost, only delayed.
All eligible users still end up receiving the amount they deserve, whether its all in one week, or over 10 weeks. Unless of course a user intended to leave and stop participating after getting one big paycheck.
To be fair, I didn't provide other suggestions because I thought 1 xmr was a good idea. I can't see the post anymore, but I don't recall it being that explicit about asking for input about the cap amount. I could have just misinterpreted that though. Regardless, I appreciate the work of the team. I think you guys have been doing a great job so far and have been pushing out improvements and features pretty quickly.
0.6 is kind of weak IMO. A cap of 1 xmr is better. 0.6 split amongst 3-4 people isn't a lot, especially as stasher scales in users. I also think that the 0.6 as a nod doesn't make sense. Is it always going to remain at 0.6? If not, the nod hardly has significance. You could do 0.6 that then scales to 6, then to 60, but that would take much longer between each interval. I think 1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, etc. Makes much more sense and can still act as a nod to computing generally.
That being said, I'm biased. I have a lot of activity on here and 0.6 divided amongst multiple people doesn't get the blood pumping. It costs to participate here, so net gains can be much lower than 1/4 of 0.6, again, not as exciting. Also, 1 xmr was the initial amount thrown out when suggesting to cap it. I think it's reasonable that stashers should expect some variability in rewards. We have no idea if that generous donation will be remotely probable to expect again in the future. Spreading it out doesn't solve the drop off in rewards, it just prolongs it. I think periodic lumpy rewards are actually a better system than consistent lower ones. Come engage and you may get your part of the rewards which have been as high as 1 xmr distributed weekly is a better sell than you might get part of 0.6 xmr distributed weekly.
All that being said, again, I am highly biased. I was likely to get a solid chunk of the prize. A Monero prize is considerably better than a dollar prize because it is considerably higher friction to get Monero than cash and it's obtained privately.
