If you're not US based it's basically free money for the elderly. Paid by the workers. Here's a table of equivalent systems.
| United States | Social Security |
| Canada | Canada Pension Plan (CPP) |
| United Kingdom | National Insurance |
| Germany | Sozialversicherung |
| France | Sécurité Sociale |
| Australia | Age Pension |
| Japan | National Pension System |
| Sweden | Försäkringskassan |
| Brazil | Instituto Nacional do Seguro Social (INSS) |
| India | Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) |
If you think this system will be solvent and/or the same government or a follow-on government will honor those obligations when a teenager hits retirement, what are you smoking and how can I get some?

Well I'm in Canada so there is the CPP.
I'm also in Alberta and we are literally voting Monday to hopefully have a referendum and leave Canada or begin talking about it for real.
The CPP is a big part of that conversation. Alberta pays alot of bucks into Canadian economy and gets fucked hard back.
This is just grimy government shit I really don't care about but it's also my reality.
I paid into the CPP for 25+ years.
So for me it should still be around. If Alberta actually leaves...shir...it might even be better in the new APP
My current situation is much more unique, I don't pay into it anymore and for the next generation I don't think they will have the same benefits.
