This is the first time it's been brought up on Monerotopia, so it's brand new, at least to me.

I don't pay much attention to the news, so when Doug brings things up as a general rule, it's also news to me.

I live my life by never watching or participating with the news because I figure that if something is actually important enough to matter that I will hear about it either from the people in my life or reading about it on the web just by casually scrolling.

It helps me keep my sanity, since bad news does better in ratings than good news does, and I do not want or need all that negativity in my life

 don't know if you guys caught it on the last monerotopia, but the homeschool credit was "when I am reelected" which either means this is a reposted clip from earlier (I think it was) or this is a new promise which is a 3rd term attached event. Either way the promise is effectively meaningless ("Abolish the IRS" and "No Iran war" anyone?).
