So I'm a pretty clean eater, I have my treats for sure but I do notice lots of similarties in how the food industry treats people the same as the financial sector. Lies, Lies and more lies then a little bit more lies.
Now I am a nutritionist so I go down these rabbit holes a lot. Three is Dr. Kellog, Procter and gamble, the smoking companies in the 80's with the fast food restaurants and more but...
The canola story is what got me started on this. Because it started in Canada; Rapeseed oil was a machine lubricant for centuries, and it mattered in the war, and when that demand dried up Canadian farmers had a surplus crop and needed somewhere to sell it. The original oil wasn't food-safe, and they knew it, they didn't say don't eat this, they bred a new plant to fit the standard and gave it a new name so it would sell. Safe got written around the crop, not around you.
Once you see that in one food you start seeing the pattern everywhere.
Crisco was sold as the modern kitchen in 1911, and the trans fats inside it took about a century to get pulled, long after the evidence was sitting there. In the sixties the sugar industry paid Harvard scientists to point the finger at fat instead, and that only came out in 2016, fifty years late. The famous seven-countries study that kicked off the whole fat panic compared seven countries, chosen out of more than twenty that had data. And the same guidelines that spent decades capping your cholesterol quietly dropped the cap in 2015.
Meanwhile the advice that came out of all this was eat less fat, eat more carbs, and there's no such thing as an essential carbohydrate, your body can make its own glucose, that's the textbook. Two fats are essential. No carbohydrate is. Fat got made the villain and the shelf got rebuilt around that.
The usual eight seed oils sit in almost everything now, canola, corn, soy, and the rest, and I'll say it plain, in my own kitchen I treat them like poison. That's my opinion and I'll own it. I'm not anti-science, I'm anti a line that never updates, because when the line does move it only moves after the damage is done.
That's the part I can't get past. They told you what was right, they were shown wrong, and the correction only came when it was undeniable. You get handed a default, and the default had an owner.
What have you noticed, and where did it catch you?
This is actually why government regulation is inherently harmful. Their bureaucratic structure is extremely vulnerable to exploitation, but they produce and sell a false sense of security. It's like someone telling you that a ship is indestructible and then you don't steer away from an iceberg and you end up dying. The false sense of security is worse than realizing it is a dangerous world out there and you have to be very intentional with what you do and consume.
They do not care about people. They care about consumers -- how to make them consume more, either more of them or more per person.
The surplus is the same story. In the US it is corn. The subsidies create a political pressure that does not go away. During the wars corn syrup was useful -- sugar was short, and the industrial uses mattered. After the war no one in the corn states had the guts to kill the support. The surplus stayed. In the 1970s they turned it into high-fructose corn syrup and put it in everything, because the corn was already cheap and sugar was tariff-protected. The corn states voters stay happy, the industry stays funded, and the population eats the result.
flouride is a poison in every form except when they put it in your well. I see this as a larger theme of depopulating anglos. once you notice this every "weird" thing is linked,
It's indo-europeans not anglos. They're doing this to Nordic countries (and others) too. You can tell the anti-racist/slavery argument is moot because the only people the Nordics ever enslaved or harmed was other white people, but they are still being replaced and intentionally destroyed.
I'm glad you brought this up and I couldn't agree more!
I haven't drank "tap water" at home in a long time. I grew up with a well and reverse osmosis but that was because of the hard water.
Fluoride is another one of those "industrial chemicals" that then gets sold off and reused for human consumption.
I can't even fathom what it's done to people's endocrine systems.
i read somewhere that emulsifiers that are suddenly appearing in everything are diabolical because they destroy mucus and health in the gut and that has a spiral impact on health, but mmm the food tastes more creamy and zero calories yay!
You would be correct.
Adding to the emulsifier part, carrageenan, guar gum, xanthan gum, and polysorbate 80 is right in that pile too, that one and carboxymethylcellulose are the two the flagship research actually used. You'll find them all through sour creams, creamy milks, cottage cheese, the stuff that's supposed to feel smooth and hold together.
And the gut microbiome is still really misunderstood, how the brain and the gut talk to each other. Your gut makes most of your serotonin, the happiness chemical, so when you put non-food things in your food and they start chewing at the gut lining and the mucus that protects it, that reaches further than your stomach. The early research points that way, and the food industry isn't in a hurry to fund the rest of it.
Titanium dioxide is the one that makes me laugh, just not happily. I avoid it like the devil. The EU pulled it from food in 2022 because they couldn't rule out harm from the nanoparticle form, and North America still sells it. Same candy, different answer depending on which side of the border you buy it. That's the line that never updates, standing right there on the label.
The dyes are the same ride. Red 40, yellow, blue, the petroleum colors in everything bright, and the US is finally pulling them now, Red 3 banned outright and the rest getting squeezed out state by state. It took a cancer ban and a state law to move that line, not a memo, and again the science was sitting there for years. The kid-brain finding is the solid part, and the gut work is early, but early in the same direction as everything else in this pile.
Now put all that into your daily intake, and your water is tainted yeah I'd be pretty fucking suss about who is "looking out" for me.
we are being poisoned in ways that we simply cannot imagine.
