so what do we do about it ?
Thanks for sharing @spirobel -- I had never heard of Zersetzung. I did read Yuri Bezmenov, he described a related technique on the larger scale -- demoralization as the first stage of ideological subversion. Change what people believe is real, isolate them from their own group, and the rest follows. Different times, governments, and agencies. Always the same idea.
yeah... the same playbook. The FBI-King letter is one of the cleaner documented examples of how agencies manufacture pressure, isolation, and "suicide" narratives against people who become inconvenient. Ofc the techniques haven’t gone away: they’ve just moved into forums, Discords, group chats, and comment sections.
Nikolai Mushegian left behind a short, practical compilation of exactly those methods (forum sliding, consensus cracking, topic dilution, the classic disinfo rules, how to spot the operators). He posted it months before he died under circumstances... that still don’t sit right with a lot of people who understood what he was building...
Worth reading if you want the field manual instead of just the historical doc: #341985
jeez. thanks @spirobel and @samourai . you just opened two huge rabbit holes for me.
MLK Jr was a socialist and probably a rapist. His veneration is based off of false premises.
He believed in forcible integration and wealth redistribution.
If you want to know why the state got much larger, the Civil Rights Act is a huge part of it since every private relationship and association now had to be mediated by the state for racism/sexism. It was one of the first instances of thought policing. The CRA wasn't the start of the decline of America, but it was a catalyst.

the post was not about any person. it was about government techniques. the fact you do not like one guy does not mean the same will not be used against us. look at what @spirobel posted in the edit. it clearly looks like the same is already going on with monero devs. same playbook. they do not care who the target is. if you are inconvenient they will use it.
Fair. I went a little too autistic on the MLK mention.
Yeah, definitely a technique they use and a threat we need to be able to deal with.
I would argue that it's important to have a community to fight against this. Ideally with an IRL component. It's hard to do that in anon world, but I think it can be done (for private people, just don't connect your pseudonym). I think community will be increasingly important as time progresses and digital community is good, but often doesn't cut it.
Also, not saying I ever attended or will attend monerotopia, but if I did and saw someone harassing KingTerry I would be not very nice and I'm good at being not very nice.
