This is a video original ↗ I came across and though the speaker is crass, he makes a great point of linking the psychographic profiles of medieval folklore with modern internet culture. In fact, the way he describes things kind of reminds me of @Alaskanon 😂

He outlines how "manifestations" of certain online content creation matches demonic types of medieval lore:

  • Chud look-maxing street interviews = Incubus
  • OF egirl foids = Succubus
  • Nuisance streamer rage baiter = Imp

and how generally profiting from people's misery is a form of digital vampirism.

It reminded me of the importance of something like Stasher existing, where people can be rewarded for adding real world value instead of manipulating algorithms that are controlled by people who clearly want to encase everyone into a digital prison.

Modern internet culture reminds me of that quote from 1984:

In our world there will be no emotions except fear, rage, triumph, and self-abasement. Everything else we shall destroy—everything.

What also comes to mind is this quote from the founding member of the Trilateral Commission and National Security Advisor for the Carter Administration, Zbigniew Brzezinski, who notes the rise of an elite class utilizing technology to influence behavior and keep everyone under surveillance and control:

More directly linked to the impact of technology, it involves the gradual appearance of a more controlled and directed society. Such a society would be dominated by an elite whose claim to political power would rest on allegedly superior scientific know-how. Unhindered by the restraints of traditional liberal values, this elite would not hesitate to achieve its political ends by using the latest modern techniques for influencing public behavior and keeping society under close surveillance and control. Under such circumstances, the scientific and technological momentum of the country would not be reversed but would actually feed on the situation it exploits.
- Zbigniew Brzezinski, Between Two Ages: America's Role in the Technetronic Era, p253

There are more quotes I could share but prob should end this post lol

Hope you find the video insightful.

I appreciate places like stasher. We put our money where our mouths are.

Ya! need more of the monero community to join though 😃

good video, enjoyed his view of the world.

Not that Stasher is immune to the demons, trolls and succubi, but at least a bit more insulated than most platforms. Might be one of the last few human only places on the internet in a few years (if it isn't already).

They'll be crawling this place to train their models on our words though. Makes a good case for private turfs in the future.

Good point, did not think about private turfs in that way.

As Monero gross Stasher will too 💪
