I did misread your post. Sorry about that. The datapocalyptic stuff gets to me these days. Spent years with clients who waved off every security warning because the deadline came first. Now the same people want a promise that whatever is "in the news" will not touch them. It is not fair to pin it on the "bad" programmers or the researchers. Often the braindead managers are the ones who rush critical things and make the decisions despite every warning, and who did not care about anything except the deadline and the performance metrics they invented themselves.
Sorry for the rant @OldNorseAnarchist.

No harm done. It's a stressful time and I generally consider you to be a good faith actor, so no offense taken.

Yeah, that's the worst part of our current corporatism. The government has propped up corporations and companies to such an unnatural size and given them such unearned market dominance via subsidy, limitation of liability, and regulation that most companies beyond (and maybe even including) small cap in size are effectively run by retards. We're pretty advanced in the type of dystopia scenario written in Atlas Shrugged. It's crazy because it sounds so unrealistic and far fetched when you read it and then you start noticing the parallels.
It's also due to a lot of the issues discussed here:

Sorry for the rant @OldNorseAnarchist
No apology needed. I'm one of the longest-winded people here. Ranting is like 70% of what I do on here. This is one of the few places where you don't have to stilt your words as much and there's a lot that needs ranting about.
I think you misread my post and then wrote a disagreement/clarification that agrees with everything I said.
I agree zero trust and re-isolation is the solution. Critical ICS systems shouldn't even have the ability to connect to any network. They had better put the updates on a floppy disk and walk them over.
