If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.

The Art of War, Sun Tzu

This was my first appearance on Monero Talk where I outline how Technocratic social engineering / propaganda works: https://youtu.be/GFR6bHJFnSA original ↗

It's important to understand that propaganda has always been a means of ideological warfare.

The term propaganda was originally counter-reformatinal in it's use. It was coined in 1622 by Pope Gregory XV, who established the Congregatio de propaganda fide (Office for the Propagation of the Faith) specifically to combat the global spread of Protestantism.

Edward Bernays outlines the role of propaganda in shaping human behaviour in the opening of his book on the subject:

The conscious and intelligent manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element in democratic society. Those who manipulate this unseen mechanism of society constitute an invisible government which is the true ruling power of our country.
We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of. This is a logical result of the way our democratic society is organized. Vast numbers of human beings must cooperate in this manner if they are to live together as a smoothly functioning society.

Lately we have been seeing a lot of "cyber attacks", I suggest that this is a manufactured problem to grant authoritarian governments more control of the internet.

Stanford professor and mentor/funeral eulogist of Aaron Swartz (one of the founders of Reddit), Lawrence Lessig, suggested in 2008 that an internet Patriot Act has already been written and is awaiting a key event to bring into law: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=on4DPpN7GwQ original ↗

Just as the events surrounding 9/11 resulted in the Patriot Act that justified mass surveillance of citizens, so too technocrats from Klaus Swab's World Economic Forum have warned of terrorist "cyber-pandemics" on the back of internet dependence due to COVID-19 lockdowns:

COVID-19 dramatically increased the dependency of economies and societies on digital technology, increasing the vulnerability of individuals, businesses and governments to cyberattacks. (Source - I had saved this link looks like the page has since been taken down...)

Could such "cyber pandemics" not provide the necessary catalyst to pass an Internet Patriot Act and permanently end the free flow of information online?

This is the danger of centralizing technological systems as this video outlines: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9iFMvT-AqEs original ↗

Stay vigilant.

Wait, were you Monero Master? Mate, I absolutely love your videos and podcast clips. I also dream of translating/localising your Cypherpunk Board Game into Turkish one day.

I have been saying for a while that the internet was going to bifurcate into the clear net and the free net. The free net will have free thought but be only on tor, i2p, yigdrasil, reticulum, etc. The clearnet will be nothing but ID checks and government Propaganda. I have been exclusively using tor for all my traffic for months now in order to get used to the kind of connection speeds we can expect to be normalized on the free net.

That is a great point and good idea, I should do the same!
