I've been meaning to check this ever since I saw Spirobel's tweet original ↗ last week.
Browser wallets have been a routine part of other chains like Solana for a long time.
They're pretty convenient.
I think it's pretty neat:

I just tried using it with Stasher:

I know browser wallets can be a contentious topic when it comes to security and stuff.
Personally, I'm very pleased to see we're inching forward when it comes to Monero UX!
Pros
- Mainnet and it works: synced, received and sent fine in my testing
- The core is Rust built on monero-oxide (from Serai) and Cuprate, compiled to wasm. It's relatively lightweight AF
- Safety slider: send stays locked until you flip it
- Optional seed offset passphrase, plus "wallet routes" to keep separate identities under one seed
- The retro skeuomorphistic design, if you're into that sort of thing. I am!
Cons
- Seed is BIP39 w/ its own derivation scheme, so it can't be restored in any other Monero wallet, and you can't import an existing 25 word or Polyseed wallet
- Fresh install bug: after onboarding it doesn't sync and node settings won't save until you reload the extension (reported, fix planned for 0.1.9)
- Incoming funds unlock 1 block later than in other wallets (asked the dev if that's intentional)
- Send button goes grey w/o telling you why (slider not flipped, or coin control w/o inputs selected)
It's still in early days thought.
Don't keep so much in it.
But I think for Stasher, it's the most convenient wallet I tried?
I think I heard there was a scammer browser wallet lately?
So, this's one doesn't drain your wallet AFAIK, from Spirobel.

I'd be happy to know if you try and it makes your Stashing more joyful!

one benefit of building in the browser is that the instrumentation tools work very well. for example it is possible to slow down specific network requests with the old monero-wallet-rpc the issue was that the concurrency of the local http server was interleaved with the…
Restoring from seed? Set the start heigh, otherwise it scans from the chain tip and the wallet looks empty.
I would be more interested in a wallet that was in the browser if there was some sort of hard cap where it would require that any amount over, say, 0.1 Monero was automatically sent to an external wallet and you couldn't set it up without one.
thanks for sharing i'll check it out.
This is really cool. I had no idea it was this far along already. Once it matures and is vetted I can see Stasher recommending this wallet to users as the default platform wallet.
