Noticed a few posts recently with ... machine like writing.
Each account has made a post and a comment, with AI like writing style.
It can be obfuscation of writing style, thought it seems strange to have several accounts all join and start posting at the same time. What do you think?
Posts below.
I've been noticing the same thing and was about to post about it myself :))
There has been a sudden wave of new random accounts with a distinctly machine-like writing style, especially right after the @stasher's reward pool received that generous 1 XMR donation.
Reward-system abusers and bounty-hunting agents are a known issue on Stacker News. One of my favorite people there even put up a fun bounty to DDoS agents, lol, @quadriocellata , of all people, I think youβd appreciate that one ;))
From a pure game-theory point of view, though, itβs a pure joy to watch these live experiments: throw some bread (a sudden 1 XMR injection into a shared reward pool) and observe the hunger games that unfold between people and bots lol.
I think over time as it's made clear that some people are engagement farming for profit, eventually people will just down vote it.
I'm surprised I didn't notice the AI content before. I guess I'm not that used to looking for it in writing. I don't follow people that write using AI to my knowledge because I generally don't find people who write interesting things to be writing them using AI. I've seen a couple that can, but I'm thinking of two examples and I don't even read them often. There's still something fundamentally human about good writing that I don't think will change. In the near future at least.
Also, the proper term for them isn't AI agents, it's "Clankers".
No, no, no. Sir AI Agent, please forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.

"Fuck you Clanker! I said it and I meant it!"
P.S. Surprisingly hard to find photos of destroying robot armies nowadays. Thought it would have been a simple search.
hahahah, that's a funny bounty.. :P
I think you're likely right and they are after the generous donation.. It will be interesting what the coming days on the forum look like.

Intention matters a lot in how someone uses the tool.
I use one to help me say what I already mean. I still write it, and I still hit send.
You will always have people that use a hammer better than others. Some will use it to build a house and some will use it to smash the window in your car.
AI or SI is called intelligence the user still has to have their own intelligence level to use it. As well as a moral compass that has values. These things do not go hand and hand.
Serial Killers can be very smart.
What you're pointing at looks different. New accounts, same week, same shape, right after money hit the pool. The intention there is the bread, not the thought.
I thought the same thing and talked myself out of it. Easy to get AI-jaded and see a bot in every new account. Glad it is not just me.
hard to say, it could be accounts using AI to rewrite their idea. or maybe the kontrolbots are flooding staher.
The em dash density in posts that short says it all lol
They all contain a dead giveaway that it is at least partly authored by AI. I won't say what, so that it remains a tell.
I fear that many people just ask AI to reword everything for them nowadays. So the thought or idea might be theirs, but it is expressed via machine. It will be normal soon if it isn't already. Maybe stasher should administer a mini turing test before being able to post something, just in case.
i wonder how many people are having more conversations with an AI than they are with their spouse or kids?
It's a shame, because such these tells turn me off immediately, even if there is merit in the writing, I often don't continue reading.
I go on YouTube and humans are reading AI scripts, comments are full of people who don't even realise it.
Search for a property online, more and more images are just AI edited - a classic tell there is lights on while its not dark.
Getting tired.
after a generation grows up listening to AI scripts, reading and consuming content generated by AI, people should also start talking, writing and thinking in those AI-like patterns.
feel like this

This is a good thing. It makes the people who already fall in BFN (Bot, Fed, NPC) category even more obvious. It allows for the rapid dismissal of any opinion they have as irrelevant. More of a heuristic of the beliefs of a subset of people than anything. Unfortunately, most people are more like biological machines then genuine thinking beings.
Agreed. Suspicious, too, that #340704 is supposedly named John... but I received an e-mail from that same e-mail address and their name was "Reece", not John. Perhaps Douglas Tuman, popular (wannabe) politician and host of the "best Monero podcast" could chime in. Either we are talking about an AI model going wild everywhere, using MoneroTalk or MoneroTopia (π; same grift, hustle) brand name to boost the show(s), or Douglas has a Reece and a John... and who else? Who, apparently, like to obfuscte their typing antics by coming across as AI. Interesting...
Not necessary that they are trying to boost the shows, can just be part of the output and potentially look more "authentic" in Monero community.. Will be interesting to see if any comment here - I think AilliA is correct and they are looking for money...
